Altrenogest

Altrenogest is FDA-approved for use in mares to suppress estrus and allow a more predictable occurrence of estrus following withdrawal of the drug. ¹ It is used clinically to establish normal estrous cycles at the end of the transitional period from anestrus to the normal breeding season, to facilitate management of prolonged estrus conditions, or to facilitate scheduled breeding; it also helps maintain high-risk pregnancies (eg, placentitis, history of early embryonic loss, embryo transfer recipients).
